How to use heat gun to achieve a perfect edge effect?

Sep 12, 2024 47 0
The temperature of using heat gun is generally about 380-400 degrees when the car is wrapping.
Different brands of car wraps, the temperature of using heat gun is different.

When using a heat gun for car wrapping, it’s primarily used to heat the film during application, allowing it to adhere tightly to the car windows, conforming to the glass curves without wrinkling.

It can also eliminate the need to cut the film into multiple pieces when applying it to the rear windshield with crown-shaped glass.

The heat gun method not only saves time when dealing with wrinkles but also enhances the overall appearance of the car wrap, making it smoother and more aesthetically pleasing.

However, several precautions must be observed when using a heat gun, as the air emitted from the gun reaches a significant temperature.

The temperature of using heat gun is generally about 380-400 degrees when the car is wrapping.

Different brands of car wraps, the temperature of using heat gun is different.

But no matter what brand of car wraps, the temperature would rather be turn down, otherwise, the glass will burst and the car wraps will broke.

Here are some key points to keep in mind while using a heat gun for car wrapping, to ensure safe and effective application:

  • When starting the heat gun, never leave it unattended. If you need to step away, even for a short time, make sure to unplug it first.

  • Use the heat gun in a dry environment as much as possible, since using it in a damp area could lead to electrical leakage. If you must work in a damp location, stand on a dry surface and wear rubber shoes for insulation.

  • Avoid burns or personal injury by not touching the heated nozzle of the gun with your hands.

  • The heat gun generates high temperatures, so avoid blowing hot air onto objects that can be damaged by heat, such as plastic parts, textiles, or furniture with fabric or velvet surfaces.

  • Do not use the heat gun in confined spaces that contain toxic solvents, as these solvents can evaporate when exposed to hot air, potentially accumulating to flammable levels. Some solvents can even ignite at temperatures as low as 204°C (400°F), so keep the heat gun away from toxic solvents whenever possible.

  • When storing the heat gun, make sure the metal tube has cooled down to a touchable temperature before putting it away.

  • Do not block the heat gun’s air intake or output, as this will reduce airflow and increase the temperature at the outlet. It can also raise the internal temperature of the heat gun, causing overheating and damage to the components.

By following these precautions, you can improve the quality of car film application while ensuring both safety and the longevity of your tools.
